Job Title: Recycling Machine Operator

1st / 3rd Shift

Overview: As a Recycling Machine Operator, you will play a critical role in the recycling process by operating and maintaining machinery used to sort, process, and prepare recyclable materials for reuse. Your responsibilities will involve operating various types of recycling equipment, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery, and contributing to the overall success of the recycling facility.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Operation: Operate recycling machinery such as balers, crushers, shredders, conveyor systems, and sorting equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.

2. Material Handling: Load recyclable materials into processing equipment and monitor the flow of materials throughout the recycling process to maintain smooth operations.

3. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of processed materials, visually inspecting for contaminants, sorting errors, or other issues that may affect the quality of the recycled product.

4. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on recycling machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.

5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment.

6. Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues, taking corrective actions as needed to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

7. Data Recording: Keep accurate records of production output, equipment maintenance, and any incidents or safety concerns, reporting information to supervisors as required.

8. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members, including supervisors, maintenance technicians, and fellow machine operators, to achieve production targets and ensure a smooth workflow.

9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and waste reduction, and communicate suggestions to management for consideration.

10. Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards governing the handling and processing of recyclable materials, including proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating recycling machinery or similar industrial equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of recycling processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as needed.
